The results are phenomenal – distortion under 0.003%, signal-to-noise ratio better than 105dB – performance that not only matches but exceeds that of most home-audio systems! Compact for Easy Installation The DC-to-DC converter also isolates circuit ground from battery ground for minimum noise. With positive and negative supplies, high-performance direct-coupled circuits can be used for super dynamic range and minimum distortion. The EC-200's DC-to-DC converter generates balanced high-voltage power from the ordinary car battery. Steep 18 dB / octave slopes ensure a sharp division between bands for minimum coloration. By "staggering" crossover points, you can correct standing wave conditions so that bass is neither boomy nor weak but incredibly natural. The crossover point of each section is independently adjustable in 5 steps from 50 Hz to 220 Hz. The EC-200 allows you to adjust the relative levels of the two regions to compensate for differences in subwoofer / main-speaker efficiencies and for differences in acoustic absorption. The low-frequency speakers – the subwoofers – can be placed where they produce smoothest bass response, the midrange/treble drivers where they produce best imagery and the most natural high-end response. Each is directed through separate power amplifiers and loudspeakers to create a system of unusual flexibility. The EC-200 divides the musical spectrum into two parts – a low-frequency region that contains the deepest musical fundamentals and forms the underpinning to give music "punch", and an upper-bass / midrange / treble region that creates the stereo imagery, presence and brilliance.
